A brief weather update…

Sacramento Houston
Sacramento Weather Houston Weather

The most common question we are asked as new Texans is how we are adjusting to the weather (vs California). To my surprise, the weather so far (February to July) has been better than Sacramento’s. This example on the right shows weather.com’s forecast for early July. A 20 degree difference in temperature is complemented by daily showers. I happen to enjoy rain, especially thunderstorms — so at this point I’d much rather be in Houston than Sacramento. Now ask me again in August (when we’re facing 98′ 100% humidity) and I may have a different answer.

Also wanted to point out a few updates:

  • New interior pics of our house
  • Our new cars! (Scion tC and Toyota Rav4)
  • A [Newest Photos] link has been added to the navigational menu on the upper-left. This link shows newly added photos sorted by date, regardless of what album they are in. Useful for checking what’s new without having to go through multiple albums.
  • You may notice a new album entitled [Camera Phones]. Both of our cell phones have been configured to auto-upload photos to this album without any manual intervention — very handy for quick pics.
  • Our online photo album consists of over 5000 photos spanning 100+ albums. If you’ve ever wondered how we manage to organize all these photos in one place online, here’s a link to a demo of the application I wrote and use to manage (upload/edit/delete) our online photo library. This online system allows you to upload entire folders and zips of photos and gives you the ability to edit/tag their metadata with a nice AJAX interface.
